Welcome to the latest What’s On Out There, the links and listings service for the wild outdoors around Sheffield and the northern Peak District. The preview version is free (so please share with anyone interested in this kind of thing).
Thanks to the support of thousands of readers across Sheffield and the Peak District (and several other locations around the world), we’ve just launched our new Commoner’s Muck section, covering the hundreds of voluntary organisations and thousands of volunteers around this area, and the work they do to benefit all of us.
Our latest Commoner’s Muck post is below:
Upper Don and Little Don
I think the River Don likes to remind Sheffield of its place in the world. The Don named the important downriver market town of Doncaster, when Sheffield was little more than a hamlet round a castle.
And our once distant target of at least 380 paying subscribers is getting closer - if 25 of our free subscribers upgrade to full supporters we’ll be there! For less than the cost of a posh coffee a month, can you help us get to that target by the end of the year?
Apart from launching two magazines to help inform the out there people of Sheffield and the northern Peak District, at our target figure we’ll be properly sustainable for the future, so you’ll be helping us bring work to local freelance writers too.
And of course, full subscribers can read the full version of What’s On Out There with around 6 weeks of listings, links and lots more in the online version, and you’ll get full access to every post we ever publish.
The free version of this post hosts incoming out there news, and will now be updated online more or less weekly.
Full Subscribers - your huge What’s On Out There post is full of lovely pictures and links, has around 6 weeks of upcoming listings, and is regularly updated, so please reload soon online to get the full version, which is too big to fit in an email.
